Botox treatment for Migraines involves managing the delivery of pain pathways and the relaxation of muscles that may contribute to headaches and migraines. This treatment involves injections into specific muscle groups around the head, neck, and shoulders that are regularly impacted by migraines.

Botox for migraines works by temporarily blocking nerve signals causing muscle contractions. When injected into specific muscles, the Botulinum Toxin (Botox) prevents those muscles from contracting, which leads to muscle relaxation.

In the context of migraines, muscle tension and tightness in the head, neck, and shoulder areas can contribute to the development of migraines or even make them more severe. By relaxing these muscles, Botox can help to reduce the frequency and intensity of migraines.

Although needles and injections can be scary for some, Botox Injections for Migraines cause minimal discomfort.

Most clients describe the feeling as a slight pinch to the skin and nothing more. Our needles are extremely thin and will not be felt during the procedure.

Side effects are often minor, contained to the area treated and will subside quickly. Depending on what area of the face you’re having treated, common side effects of anti-wrinkle treatment include:

• Redness

• Swelling

• Bruising

• Slight headache

Side effects usually only happen at the site of the injection. If you are experiencing side effects outside of the above, please contact your practitioner or your GP.

Depending on the number of areas being treated, you can expect this treatment to last up to 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, Botox for migraines is not a one-time solution. The effects of each treatment typically last around three months.

As the effects start to wear off, you may experience an increase in migraine frequency and severity again. Therefore, we recommend regular follow-up treatments to maintain the benefits of your treatment.

For some, you may start to experience relief within a week or two after receiving Botox injections. However, it's important to note that this initial relief might not be the full extent of the treatment's effectiveness.

Recovery time for anti-wrinkle injections is around 24 - 48 hours. Some bruising and localised swelling may occur, this is normal and usually subsides within 20 minutes.

We advise that you do not exercise, steam room or sauna for at least 24 hours post-treatment.  We also recommend that you do not have any treatment (i.e. facial) that requires the face to be touched for at least a week post-treatment.
